who was Michael Jackson?

Michael Joseph Jackson ,(august 29, 1958- June 25, 2009) was born on august 29, 1958,to a middle class family in Gary, Indiana, USA. He was eight of ten children to Joseph Jackson and Katherine Jackson.his father was mill worker and performed with band the falcons.
he had troubled relationship with his father Joe, who physically and mentally abused him. Though his father strict discipline, playing large role in his success.
Jackson first spoke openly about his childhood abuse in an interview with Oprah Winfrey broadcast on February 10, 1993 live around the world. He admitted that he had often cried from loneliness and he would vomit on the sight of his father.
his father also called him as "big nose", creating dissatisfaction with his appearance.
In 1964, he and Marlon, his elder brother joined the Jackson Brothers – a band formed by brothers Jackie, Tito, and Jermaine(his brothers)—as backup musicians playing congas and tambourine. Jackson later began performing backup vocals and dancing. he worked solo with Motown between 1972 and 1975. among them "Ben" and "got to be there" were part of jackson5 franchise. by 1973 sales of Jackson 5 began declining, giving birth to world greatest entertainer of all times "Michael Jackson". in solo field.

solo career, active years (1975-2009)

In 1975 he joined Quincy Jones, for his first solo album Off The Wall.In 1979 he broke his nose during complex dance routine.His subsequent rhinoplasty was not a complete success; he complained of breathing difficulties that would affect his career. Songwriters for the album included Jackson, Heatwave's Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder, and Paul McCartney. Released in 1979, it was the first album to generate four U.S. top 10 hits, including the chart-topping singles "Don't Stop 'til You Get Enough" and "Rock with You.It reached at number 3 on billboards top 200.,and eventually sold 20 millions copies worldwide.

later in 1980 jackson received three American Awards for his Solo efforts.Favorite Soul/R&B Album, Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist and Favorite Soul/R&B Single (for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"). That year hat year, he also won Billboard Music Awards for Top Black Artist and Top Black Album and a Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (for "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough"). Despite of its sucess jackson felt that it could be more better. He was angry with himself that he had only won one Grammy award at 1980's grammys.
But after that he produced world best album of all times "Thriller"(1983). selling more than 80 million copies worldwide.
he was the first black artist to be broadcasted at MTV.

Thriller  ( November 30,1982)
It was released  on November 30, 1982, after his album OFF THE WALL. It was a different album having harder funk,  hard rock,softer ballads and smoother soul. It was recorded with a production budget of $750,000, by producer Quincy Jones. Jackson wrote four of the nine tracks of this album.
There were news that the night the album was released. There was a line of people overnight waiting to buy  the copy of the album. Jackson became a  Super Star overnight.  In just over a year thriller became the best selling album and currently remain the best selling album of all times.  Its estimated sales was somewhere between 75 billion to 110 billion.
Seven of the album's nine songs were released as singles, and all reached the top 10 on the Billboard top 100 The album won a record-breaking eight Grammy Awards at the 1984 Grammys.

Thriller made Jackson as one of the prominent pop stars of late 20th century. His appearances on MTV and  meeting with president Ronald Regan at White House helped in breakingdown racial barriers.
The album was first to use  videos as a promotional tool.
 "Thriller" (tittle song) video became the best selling and the most watched video of all times. Other videos like "Bille jean", "Beat it" represented some art in them. singles like "Beat it", "Thriller", "Bille jean" recieved regular rotation on MTV.
   Through this album Michael Jackson Reprsented  video as art.
In 2001, a special edition issue of the album was released, which contains additional audio interviews, a demo recording and the song "Someone In the Dark", which was a Grammy-winning track
Thriller ranked 20 on Rolling Stone Magzine's 500 Greatest album of all times.

  "Bille jean" became  the most popular song  as Michael  Jackson  first performed magical   Moon Walk to the beats of  " Bille jean". on Motown in 1983. everyone one was amazed by his magical dance. Quincy Jones said" I was totally amazed with his magical dance "Moon walk".
After Jackson's Death in June 2009, Thriller set additional records. It sold more than 100,000 copies, placing it at number two on the Top pop catalog albums chart. Songs from Thriller also helped Jackson become the first artist to sell more than one million song downloads in a week. According to Nielsen Soundscan, Thriller was the 14th best selling album of 2009 in the United States with 1.27 million copies sold.
